FAQ

What is Semaglutide and Tirzepatide?

These are medications used to treat type 2 diabetes. It belongs to a class of drugs called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists. Tirzepatide is GLP-2 with 2 peptides.

How are they administered?

They are administered by subcutaneous injection (under the skin) once a week. The injection is typically given in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm.

How do they work?

They work by mimicking the effects of a naturally occurring hormone called GLP-1 or GLP-2. They help regulate blood sugar levels by increasing insulin secretion, decreasing glucagon secretion, and slowing gastric emptying.

What are the benefits of using these compounds?

They can help to improve blood sugar control, reduce body weight, and lower the risk of cardiovascular events in people with type 2 diabetes. It also has a side effect of weight loss.

What are the side effects?

Common side effects of Semaglutide include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation. These side effects usually go away over time. Rare but serious side effects include pancreatitis, kidney problems, and allergic reactions. Tirzepatide has fever side effects because it has 2 peptides.

What should I do if I miss a dose?

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.

Can they be used with other diabetes medications?

Yes, contact your doctor.

How should they be stored?
